 Details:

Jefferson Public Radio and the Cascade Theatre welcome Sedge Thompson and the crew of West Coast Live back to Redding for a "live-to-tape" show that will be broadcast nationally at a future date.  West Coast Live is a San Francisco Bay Area-based nationally syndicated radio show, heard in Redding on JPR’s Rhythm & News Service (89.7FM) Saturdays at 3pm, and on JPR’s News & Information Service (1330AM) Saturdays at 1pm.

The format for West Coast Live can often be as fuzzy as Sedge Thomson’s face.  Audiences will experience interviews with interesting people from the arts or politics, a musical guest or two, witty repartee, and the insights of ordinary people at the other end of the Biospherical Digital-Optical Aquaphone. But no one, including people working on the show, knows exactly how these pieces and others will fit together throughout the nationally syndicated show’s production.   And no one would have it any other way.  Although it’s always a two-hour broadcast, each show moves at its own pace.  Guests get all the time they need to answer questions, and musicians are encouraged to show what they’ve got.  At first glance, one show’s combination of guests may seem like a polka dot shirt with plaid pants, but somehow the eclectic combinations work.

West Coast Live frequently goes on the road, seeking interesting places that convey the culture and sounds of the West.  During its 15 years on the air, the show has sent its signal out from national parks, internationally regarded museums, restaurants, skyscrapers, private homes, and theaters of all sizes from Alaska to Yosemite to British Columbia.  West Coast Live has visited the State of Jefferson three times in the past creating broadcasts from Ashland, Mount Shasta and Redding as part of the historic Cascade Theatre’s grand opening ceremonies in 2004.

West Coast Live airs on JPR’s Rhythm & News Service Saturdays at 3:00 pm, and on the News & Information Service Saturdays at 1:00 pm.

Be part of the West Coast Live audience!  Learn the secrets of the Biospherical Digital Optical Aquaphone, share your own audience true story, hear West Coast Live’s man at the keyboard Mike Greensill, and discover why one reviewer says West Coast Live is “Bill Moyers meets David Letterman.”

Don’t miss San Francisco’s Live Radio Show to the World -- minus the city known for its hills (we’ve got mountains), restaurants (we’ve got our fair share) and arbitrary parking laws (no need for them here).
